To get my wife comfortable with the motel, I suggested she check the reviews on the internet. Plenty of the reviewers mention that the rooms are clean and that Bob, the proprietor, takes good care of his customers. She did manage to point out a few of the reviews that didn’t mention any of that:

“Shitty motel at the side of the road, with giant freaky clowns painted all over it…”

“We were traveling cross country and decided to try this hotel for the spooky factor. Basically, it is a dive motel.”

“…and the parking lot was dark and deserted, with those creepy fucking clowns looming overhead…”

“So if you find yourself traveling through Nevada heed my advice: bring a pillow and sleep in the car. It may not be as comfortable as a bed, but at least the demonic face of a grinning clown won‘t be the last thing you see before you die.”
